The November 27 1837, Bond for the William Bushong Sr. Estate.

Born December 16 1765, he was named Wilhelm, according to the Register of the First Reformed Church, York County, Pennsylvania, the son of Johannes Buschong and Elizabeth (Sprenkel). Sometime before 1778, not yet twelve years old, he moved with his family to Shenandoah County, Virginia, where he finished growing to manhood. On May 18, 1787, also in Shenandoah County, William, was married to Catharine Bartley, and as listed in his will, had five children, that lived to adulthood...
  • Mary Ann Bushong (Shue), 1790-1883
  • Daniel Bushong, 1797-____
  • Elizabeth Bushong (Grim), 1799-1882
  • Catharine Bushong (Focht), 1800-1880
  • Sarah Bushong (Heisey), about 1803-____
William moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, maybe as early as 1807, when he and his brother John Jacob Bushong, bought land there. William's 100 acre purchase qualifies him and his descendants as one of the First Families of Ohio (FFO) Accordingly, in 1810, William is listed in the Columbiana Tax Rolls. William lived thirty years in the Fairfield Township, in Columbiana County, working and adding properties. He was obviously good in business and farming as a couple of his properties were later appraised at some $18,000, which was a tidy sum in the 1830s.

On September 13, 1837, while dictating his Will, William declared, that he was "in perfect health of body, and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding". However sadly, less than six weeks later, October 26th, he was dead...

"Died in Fairfield TP. on 26th ult. Mr William Bushong, an old and respected inhabitant of the county, aged 71y 10m 6d."

As listed in the Bushong Bulletin Vol 6 no 2 page 16.

The Bushong United Family Tree, has at least 125 of William's and Catharine's descendants listed, which represent only a portion. There's also living descendants. After William's death, many of the families and his descendants moved far and wide, living in Ohio, of course, but also, West Virginia, Texas, North Carolina, Oregon and others. If William's an ancestor of yours, I urge you to make full-sized copies of all these documents, for your own (and separate) archive.
